FAMILY YIN & RESTORATIVE YOGA

This family class runs alongside our usual monthly Yin & Restorative (second Friday).  It remains an adult class but is geared more toward those who want to bring teens and older juniors – or indeed toward they who want to bring their elders! – for shared space and serenity.

Yin is calm and peaceful. Yang is active and dynamic.  Of course we need both but our swift-paced world tends to find life a little too heavy in yang!  So here we bring balance and practice the transition back to peace.

Yin Yoga targets the fascia (connective body tissue), opening up tight, dense areas that can build up over time.  Blending yin with restorative yoga – where the body is entirely supported for the deepest rest – allows us to ease out, realign and thoroughly restore.

BREATH OF LIFE

Don’t underestimate the power of your breath when you learn how to switch your breathing from shallow to deep diaphragmatic breathing, it has immense benefits for body and mind. This workshop is aimed at complete beginners but also it is perfect for teachers wanting to deepen their knowledge. Pranayama reduces anxiety, depression insomnia, production of stress hormones and increases a sense of peacefulness towards yourself and others.

This workshop will give you all the tools you need to begin everyday with some simply breathwork, progressing onto simple Pranayama.

The practice of Pranayama; the ability to prolong and control the physical act of breathing, it is deeply therapeutic, and can be considered a tool to help you bring about physical health, increased awareness, calmness and clarity over one’s mind. It is the 4th limb of Patanjali’s Ashtanga Yoga and therefore stands at the very heart of Yoga, and yet it is little understood and rarely taught in any depth in regular weekly classes. Asana alone is rarely enough to achieve the state of “Yoga”.

Those who joined in july will get an opportunity to deepen & further their practice. It offers 10 CPD hours, (eventually building up to 30 CPD). Cultivating enough understanding to eventually pass on into a class situation.

The practice of asana, pranayama and meditation should be integrated , they should inform and complement one another.

Please join Kate Kearns qualified yin and MBSR Restorative Yoga Therapy and Jane Blackburn to experience the benefits of this Restorative and Gentle Yin Yoga with Gong Sound Bath Workshop during the festive period. Thursday 27 December 11:30pm-1:30 pm at Inhale Yoga Studio, Hale.

The first 1.5 hours will be dedicated to a restorative and gentle yin practice with sound and vibrations healing and relaxing you the practice and the last half an hour will be completely dedicated to a Gong Sound Bath meditation.

We will be offering a nourishing and releasing practice with gentle yin postures and shapes where experimental exploration is encouraged, amalgamated with restorative poses and the healing sounds of the gong to rejuvenate, relax, refresh and restore you.

Gongs can help in resolving emotional and physical dissonance. Magic happens when there is no separation between the gong, the player and the listener. Playing and listening to gongs is about spiritual, physical and emotional resolution – opening of doors and windows to the Universe, moving around energies, Universal energies – to enter a spiritual dimension. The Gong is a psycho-acoustic gateway to heightened states of awareness and consciousness. It is an ideal tool for stress reduction, stimulation of the glandular system, and to break up emotional blockages.

Gently opening into our mindful restorative and yin yoga practice by focusing our attention inward, using our breath as our anchor. A mindful, permissive, nourishing, yielding practice, whilst working on the deeper tissues, welcoming awareness of the subtler sensations.

Cultivating harmony and peace, a deeper sense of balance and feelings of calmness and a sense of well-being. Also working to stimulate and unblock energy channels to offer a deep release and sense of letting go.

This restorative and gentle yin yoga gong bath workshop will offer a slow-paced, meditative style of yoga with postures held for 3 to 5 minutes.

The Gongs stimulate and resonate all cells in the human body simultaneously and re calibrate the parasympathetic nervous system (heavy arms and legs as well as a regulated heart rate during a gong meditation are a sign of the re-calibration).

The Gong generates powerful multi-dimensional ripples of sound that grow into waves and bathe your entire body in streams of sound. These have been described as otherworldly, rhythmic, generating a sense of being on vacation, unfathomable, purifying, magical, sweet – like rich, rich chocolate cake, profound, out of body, celestial and harmonic…just to name a few.

TEEN WORKSHOP:  BALANCING THE ELEMENTS

One for our Gorgeous Teens! Making sure yogis of all ages have chance to explore their practice a little deeper when the new year workshops are floated. This, exploring Ayurveda, an holistic approach to health, wellbeing & All Round Ease.

The elements each have their natural strengths but equally have their shadow sides too. In simplest form, Wind can be full of ideas & creativity but in excess can feel flighty or anxious, Fire is of passion & drive but can become fierce or destructive, and Earth is consistent & dedicated but can become stagnant. All elements can be found in each of us; our individual ‘recipe’. The balance shifts with the seasons, the demands of life, as well as our natural growth. So how do we recognise when we feel out of kilter? How do we bring ourselves back to that sweet, steady centre where we flourish?

In Balancing the Elements we explore what the elements represent in us, ways to check in with our steady centre, how to recognise when this feels out of balance (or indeed is starting to lean that way!), and tools to bring back balance. Tools use our bodies (the breath, asana, meditation) as well as considering what we nourish it with.

CHAKRA BALANCING WORKSHOP

“Yin Yoga” Commit to the stillness, observe and allow whatever arises to simply be. Mindful Yin Yoga is a permissive, nourishing, yielding practice. It works on the deep tissues that normally need a gentle, longer-held pressure to be stimulated and grow stronger. The asanas in this practice are held for 3 to 7 minutes, while keeping a deep, mindful breathing. The tissue will lengthen, open-up and become stronger, restoring itself and increasing flexibility of the whole body.

• The perfect complement to dynamic (Yang) forms of yoga.

• Yin aims to unblock energy channels known as the meridians and offers a deep release and sense of letting go. Cultivating harmony and peace, a deeper sense of balance and feelings of calmness.

• Yin is a quiet and simple yoga practice but that does not mean that it is easy. Yin can be challenging owing to holding the postures for long periods. We can use props like blocks, bolsters, blankets and cushions help us to remain at our appropriate edge and support us in the pose.
