MONTHLY SELF-PRACTICE MYSORE CLASS

With Josh Wright

Saturday 26th May  10:15am – 12:15pm

Cost: £12

Like a private yoga lesson in a group setting.

Self Practice is the traditional form of teaching the Ashtanga Yoga method, which is a sequence of postures linked together with a continuous breath. Rather than following the instructions of a teacher, you practice at your own pace, you will be given lots of help in the beginning with adjustments where necessary.

The Ashtanga sequence is a very intelligent way of opening body and mind, pose by pose, it is a very thorough approach to the practice of yoga, building strength and stability, leading to a mind which is calm and totally clear. As a beginner you may start with a very basic sequence, later deepening and opening up as postures are added. As you continue to practice, in this way you progress according to your level. The benefit of having a sequence means you open the body safely with one to one guidance that is impossible in a regular class situation.

Who can attend? Ideally, you will have  an established self practice, but you are welcome to start here too. You don’t need to have memorised the order of the postures as you will be helped with this and given a sheet to memorise.

The third and final workshop (1st July) will cover Loving Kindness Meditation, an ancient practice stemming from Buddhist philosophy, which helps us to practice love and compassion towards others, helping us to become more empathetic and improve our relationships with other people.

FAMILY YIN & RESTORATIVE YOGA

With Sofie Swindlehurst

Friday 1st June. 6:30pm – 7:30pm

Cost: £9 (Please book in advance)

Yin is the calm, receptive opposite to dynamic yang.  Of course we need both but our swift-paced, uber fulfilled world tends to find life a little too heavy in yang!  Yin yoga focuses on the fascia (connective) tissues of the body using longer-held, more supported asana.  The fascia extends around our muscles, bones and organs as a web which translates movement and communication throughout the body.  Yin yoga opens up tight, dense areas of fascia that can build up over time.  Balancing strength and flexibility in our tissues it offers benefit to those of us with relatively static jobs and slow-creep postural habits, those of us with specific sport goals and those of us who simply want to take better care of our joint health.  Yin wouldn’t be yoga without breathwork!  Along with the slower pace it brings a raft of benefits, re-setting the nervous system.  We’ve blended this class with restorative yoga (restorative being where the poses are entirely supported, without any muscular effort) for optimum relaxation and renewal.  Come revel in spacious stillness.

YIN & TONIC

With Kate Kearns

Saturday 9th June.  2:30pm – 4:30pm

Investment: £15 Early bird price paying by the paypal link http://paypal.me/YogaAuraWorkshops or bacs secures your place. £20 if paying on the day.

A Mid-monthly Saturday Yin Yoga and Relaxation Workshop, to Unwind, Release and Let Go!!!

A refreshing and releasing, deliciously yummy and juicy Yin Yoga practice ending with the perfect tonic, a long refreshing, soothing Shavasana with Tibetan Singing Bowl Sound Healing, with Kate Kearns, qualified Yin and MBSR Restorative Yoga Therapy teacher, Charted Level 2 with Yoga Alliance Professionals.

“Yin Yoga” Commit to the stillness, observe and allow whatever arises to simply be. Mindful Yin Yoga is a permissive, nourishing, yielding practice. It works on the deep tissues that normally need a gentle, longer-held pressure to be stimulated and grow stronger.
The asanas in this practice are held for 3 to 7 minutes, while keeping a deep, mindful breathing. The tissue will lengthen, open-up and become stronger, restoring itself and increasing flexibility of the whole body.

The three fundamentals of Yin Yoga:
1 – Enter the position with the right depth. Find your edge and let your body slowly open up
2 – Keep quiet, keep still. Once you find the optimal point of tension, keep calm.
3 – Remain in the pose for a period time.

Mindful Yin Yoga offers a meditative approach to yoga and is a slow-paced style of yoga with postures held for longer periods of time – up to five minutes in order to improve flexibility by releasing the connective tissues of the body including the tendons, fascia, and ligaments, even joints of the bones generally in the hips, pelvis and lower spine. At the same time, there is an emphasis on relaxing the muscular tissue.

• The perfect complement to dynamic (Yang) forms of yoga.
• Yin aims to unblock energy channels known as the meridians and offers a deep release and sense of letting go. Cultivating harmony and peace, a deeper sense of balance and feelings of calmness.
• Yin is a quiet and simple yoga practice but that does not mean that it is easy. Yin can be challenging owing to holding the postures for long periods. We can use props like blocks, bolsters, blankets and cushions help us to remain at our appropriate edge and support us in the pose.
• Mindful yin Yoga is a path, a journey that we embark on in our practice where our intention is not to get somewhere else in our practice, but to be just where we are. To be in the moment, with our breath, just being aware of our intention of staying mindful.
• Mindful Yin Yoga is non-judging and is about being fully present and with kindness to ourselves and self-compassion in our hearts.
• Mindful yin yoga taps in to our innate potential for healing and it cultivates our ability to embody wisdom and self-compassion and can help us to free whatever arises in our lives with integrity, with clarity and with an open-hearted presence.

Suitable for all levels including beginners.

Book your place now by email to Kate via info@yoga-aura.co.uk or call or text 07795 418266.

Cancellation policy – up to 72 hours before the event I can offer a space on another workshop. If I can get someone to take your place then I can offer a refund.
