SUNDAY MORNING STILLNESS – MONTHLY MEDITATION WORKSHOPS

With Catherine Banks (Elestial Therapy)

24th September, 29th October, 26th November . 10am – 12pm

Cost:  £15 per workshop  or  book all 3 in bulk and pay £35 . (Advanced booking required)

This set of 3 meditation workshops will help you to slow down, recharge your energy and improve your mindset each month, as well as helping you to learn how to develop your own daily meditation practice at home. The workshops will be held on the last Sunday of every month in September, October and November with Catherine from Elestial Therapy. Each workshop will cover a different style of meditation, including a look at the history behind the practice, the benefits which each style can bring to your life, as well as the practical side of learning how to meditate and enjoying different guided meditations on the day!

The first workshop (24th September) will cover Mindfulness Meditation, teaching us how to live in the present moment, to observe our thoughts and feelings with kindness and compassion and to get out of our usual habit of living in our heads and getting tangled up in our thoughts. In the second workshop (29th October), we will practice and find out more about Positive Affirmation Meditations, helping us to feel better about and improve our relationship with ourselves. The third and final workshop (26th November) will cover Loving Kindness Meditation, an ancient practice stemming from Buddhist philosophy, which helps us to practice love and compassion towards others, helping us to become more empathetic and improve our relationships with other people.

All 3 workshops together will help you to develop your own meditation practice, find balance in your life, and create a happier, more peaceful mind.

Workshops are for all levels of meditators – no experience is needed.

Workshop 1- Sunday 24th September – Mindfulness Meditation (what Mindfulness is how mindfulness meditation can help us in our day to day life)

YIN & YOGA NIDRA WORKSHOP

With Kate Kearns

Saturday 30th September  2:30pm – 5pm

Cost:  £20 Early Bird / £25 on day (if there are spaces)

Deepening into our mindful yin yoga practice by focusing our attention inward, using our breath, Ujjayi breath (ocean breath), as our anchor or conscious deep breathing. Dedicating this time to notice what it feels like to breath, noticing everything about our breath and what happens to us as we breathe. Taking this time to fully explore and cultivate inner awareness whilst creating our own individual yin poses so that we can explore our own potential for healing and cultivate our ability to embody wisdom, self-compassion, to help us to free whatever arises with integrity, with clarity and with an open hearted presence.

Yin Yoga is a permissive, nourishing, yielding practice. It works on the deep tissues that normally need a gentle, longer-held pressure to be stimulated and grow stronger.

Yin Yoga offers a slow-paced, meditative style of yoga with postures held for longer periods of time for 3 to 5 minutes in order to improve flexibility by releasing the connective tissues of the body including the tendons, fascia, and ligaments, even joints of the bones generally in the hips, pelvis and lower spine. At the same time there is an emphasis on relaxing the muscular tissue.

Yin can be challenging owing to holding the postures for long periods. The perfect complement to dynamic (Yang) forms of yoga.

Yin aims to unblock energy channels and offers a deep release and sense of letting go. Cultivating harmony and peace, a deeper sense of balance and feelings of calmness and a sense of well-being.

To finish, a long yoga Nidra, one of the deepest of all meditations. An effortless relaxation. Yoga Nidra is the prefect end to this Yin Yoga deep releasing and letting go sequence relaxation, bringing incredible calmness, quietness, clarity and deep relaxation.

Suitable for all levels including beginners.
Book your place now by email to Kate via info@yoga-aura.co.uk or text 07795 418266.

(Cancellation policy – up to 48 hours before the event I can offer a space on another workshop. If I can get someone to take your place then I can offer a refund minus a £5 admin charge for finding a replacement.  Within 48 hours of a workshop – I’m sorry but I cannot offer a refund as it’s too late to fill the place)

FAMILY YIN YOGA & RESTORATIVE YOGA

With Sofie Swindlehurst

Friday 6th October  6:30pm – 7:30pm

Cost: £9 Drop-in

Yin is the calm, receptive opposite to dynamic yang.  Of course we need both but our swift-paced, uber fulfilled world tends to find life a little too heavy in yang!

Yin yoga focuses on the fascia (connective) tissues of the body using longer-held, more supported asana.  The fascia extends around our muscles, bones and organs as a web which translates movement and communication throughout the body.  Yin yoga opens up tight, dense areas of fascia that can build up over time.  Balancing strength and flexibility in our tissues it offers benefit to those of us with relatively static jobs and slow-creep postural habits, those of us with specific sport goals and those of us who simply want to take better care of our joint health.

Yin wouldn’t be yoga without breathwork!  Along with the slower pace it brings a raft of benefits, re-setting the nervous system.  We’ve blended this class with restorative yoga (restorative being where the poses are entirely supported, without any muscular effort) for optimum relaxation and renewal.  Come revel in spacious stillness.

This class is still an adult class but will be geared more towards those of you who want to bring your teens and older juniors along to share the space and serenity; hece it’s shortened to an hour.

BREATH OF LIFE

With Vicki Shields (SYT)

Saturday 7th October   10:30- 12:30pm and 1pm 3pm
Sunday 8th October     10:30- 12:30pm and 1pm 3pm

Don’t underestimate the power of your breath when you learn how to switch your breathing from shallow to deep diaphragmatic breathing, it has immense benefits for body and mind. This workshop is aimed at complete beginners but also it is perfect for teachers wanting to deepen their knowledge. Pranayama reduces anxiety, depression insomnia, production of stress hormones and increases a sense of peacefulness towards yourself and others.

This workshop will give you all the tools you need to begin everyday with some simply breath work, progressing onto simple Pranayama.
The practice of Pranayama; the ability to prolong and control the physical act of breathing, it is deeply therapeutic, and can be considered a tool to help you bring about physical health, increased awareness, calmness and clarity over one’s mind. It is the 4th limb of Patanjali’s Ashtanga Yoga and therefore stands at the very heart of Yoga, and yet it is little understood and rarely taught in any depth in regular weekly classes. Asana alone is rarely enough to achieve the state of “Yoga”.

Those who joined in May will get an opportunity to deepen & further their practice. It offers 10 CPD hours, (eventually building up to 40 CPD). Cultivating enough understanding to eventually pass on into a class situation.
The practice of asana, pranayama and meditation should be integrated , they should inform and complement one another.

PART ONE ( 10 CPD HOURS)
SATURDAY 7th OCTOBER
10:30am-12:30pm
Understanding the importance of deep breathing and the preparatory exercises that address tension built up in the diaphragm,
abdomen and jaw, helping to liberate the breath and the life force energy. Introduction of simple pranayama practice
(Morning only £25)

1pm-3pm .     Science & Philosophy and Mantra Recitation
Booked together £40

SUNDAY 8th OCTOBER
10:30-12:30 Building on the understanding of day one with further pranayama techniques
(Morning only £25)

1pm-3pm Integrating into Asana practice & meditative techniques
Booked together £40

Space limited to 15 students booking of both days will take priority at a cost of £75
Those looking to gain 10 CPD will be required to also fulfil 2 hours of home study which includes reading and additional evening practice.

40 CPD HOURS   for those wishing to gain 40 CPD part two will be January 20th and 21st 2018. Those wishing to gain 40 CPD hours will be required to develop a self practice journal, additional reading and will be mentored through practice booked together £140

Please Email v.shields@btinternet.com ( no bookings via messenger please)

YIN & TONIC WORKSHOP

With Kate Kearns

Saturday 14th October   2:30pm – 4:30pm

Cost:  £15 Early Bird / £20 on the day

Join Kate for a Yin Yoga and Relaxation Workshop, to unwind, release and let go.

Mindful Yin Yoga is a permissive, nourishing, yielding & meditative practice. It works on the deep tissues that normally need a gentle, longer-held pressure to be stimulated and grow stronger. The asanas in this slow-paced style of yoga are held for 3 to 5 minutes, while keeping deep, mindful breathing. This helps to improve flexibility by releasing the connective tissues of the body including the tendons, fascia, and ligaments, even joints of the bones generally in the hips, pelvis and lower spine. At the same time, there is an emphasis on relaxing the muscular tissue. The tissue will lengthen, open-up and become stronger, restoring itself and increasing flexibility of the whole body.

Yin is a quiet and simple yoga practice but that does not mean that it is easy. Yin can be challenging owing to holding the postures for long periods. We can use props like blocks, bolsters, blankets and cushions help us to remain at our appropriate edge and support us in the pose

Yin Yoga is the perfect complement to dynamic (Yang) forms of yoga and aims to unblock energy channels known as the meridians and offers a deep release and sense of letting go. Cultivating harmony and peace, a deeper sense of balance and feelings of calmness. It taps in to our innate potential for healing and it cultivates our ability to embody wisdom and self-compassion and can help us to free whatever arises in our lives with integrity, with clarity and with an open-hearted presence.

Suitable for all levels including beginners.

(Cancellation policy – up to 48 hours before the event I can offer a space on another workshop. If I can get someone to take your place then I can offer a refund.  Within 48 hours of a workshop – I’m sorry but I cannot offer a refund as it’s too late to fill the place)
