FRIDAY YIN & TONIC WORKSHOP

With Kate Kearns

Friday 19th January   7:15pm – 9:15pm

Join Kate for a Friday evening Yin and Tonic, Yin Yoga and Relaxation Workshop, to unwind, release and let go.

Mindful Yin Yoga is a permissive, nourishing, yielding & meditative practice. It works on the deep tissues that normally need a gentle, longer-held pressure to be stimulated and grow stronger. The asanas in this slow-paced style of yoga are held for 3 to 5 minutes, while keeping deep, mindful breathing. This helps to improve flexibility by releasing the connective tissues of the body including the tendons, fascia, and ligaments, even joints of the bones generally in the hips, pelvis and lower spine. At the same time, there is an emphasis on relaxing the muscular tissue. The tissue will lengthen, open-up and become stronger, restoring itself and increasing flexibility of the whole body.

Yin is a quiet and simple yoga practice but that does not mean that it is easy. Yin can be challenging owing to holding the postures for long periods. We can use props like blocks, bolsters, blankets and cushions help us to remain at our appropriate edge and support us in the pose

Yin Yoga is the perfect complement to dynamic (Yang) forms of yoga and aims to unblock energy channels known as the meridians and offers a deep release and sense of letting go. Cultivating harmony and peace, a deeper sense of balance and feelings of calmness. It taps in to our innate potential for healing and it cultivates our ability to embody wisdom and self-compassion and can help us to free whatever arises in our lives with integrity, with clarity and with an open-hearted presence.

Suitable for all levels including beginners.

(Cancellation policy – up to 48 hours before the event I can offer a space on another workshop. If I can get someone to take your place then I can offer a refund.  Within 48 hours of a workshop – I’m sorry but I cannot offer a refund as it’s too late to fill the place)

Book your place now by email to Kate via info@yoga-aura.co.uk or call or text 07795 418266.

BREATH OF LIFE

With Vicki Shields (SYT)

Saturday 20th January  10:30- 12:00pm and 1pm 3:00pm

Sunday 21st January  10:30- 12:00pm and 1pm 3:00pm

Don’t underestimate the power of your breath when you learn how to switch your breathing from shallow to deep diaphragmatic breathing, it has immense benefits for body and mind. This workshop is aimed at complete beginners but also it is perfect for teachers wanting to deepen their knowledge. Pranayama reduces anxiety, depression insomnia, production of stress hormones and increases a sense of peacefulness towards yourself and others.

This workshop will give you all the tools you need to begin everyday with some simply breathwork, progressing onto simple Pranayama.

The practice of Pranayama; the ability to prolong and control the physical act of breathing, it is deeply therapeutic, and can be considered a tool to help you bring about physical health, increased awareness, calmness and clarity over one’s mind. It is the 4th limb of Patanjali’s Ashtanga Yoga and therefore stands at the very heart of Yoga, and yet it is little understood and rarely taught in any depth in regular weekly classes. Asana alone is rarely enough to achieve the state of “Yoga”.

Those who joined in july will get an opportunity to deepen & further their practice. It offers 10 CPD hours, (eventually building up to 30 CPD). Cultivating enough understanding to eventually pass on into a class situation.

The practice of asana, pranayama and meditation should be integrated , they should inform and complement one another.

SATURDAY 20TH JANUARY

10:30-12:30 Understanding the importance of deep breathing and the preparatory exercises that address tension built up in the diaphragm, abdomen and jaw, helping to liberate the breath and the life force energy. Introduction of simple pranayama practice £25

1:00PM-3PM Science & Philosophy and Mantra Recitation £25

Booked together £40

SUNDAY 21ST JANUARY

10:30-12:30 Building on the understanding of day one with further pranayama techniques £25

1:00pm-3pm Integrating into Asana practice & meditative techniques £25

Booked together £40

Space limited to 12 students booking of both days will take priority at a cost of £75

Those looking to gain 10 CPD will be required to also fulfil 2 hours of home study which includes reading and additional evening practice.

To book, contact Vicki Shields:  v.shields@btinternet.com

FAMILY YIN & RESTORATIVE YOGA

With Sofie Swindlehurst

Friday 2nd February. 6:30pm – 7:30pm

Cost: £9 Drop-In

Yin is the calm, receptive opposite to dynamic yang.  Of course we need both but our swift-paced, uber fulfilled world tends to find life a little too heavy in yang!  Yin yoga focuses on the fascia (connective) tissues of the body using longer-held, more supported asana.  The fascia extends around our muscles, bones and organs as a web which translates movement and communication throughout the body.  Yin yoga opens up tight, dense areas of fascia that can build up over time.  Balancing strength and flexibility in our tissues it offers benefit to those of us with relatively static jobs and slow-creep postural habits, those of us with specific sport goals and those of us who simply want to take better care of our joint health.  Yin wouldn’t be yoga without breathwork!  Along with the slower pace it brings a raft of benefits, re-setting the nervous system.  We’ve blended this class with restorative yoga (restorative being where the poses are entirely supported, without any muscular effort) for optimum relaxation and renewal.  Come revel in spacious stillness.

RESTORATIVE & GENTLE YIN YOGA WITH GONG SOUND BATH

With Kate Kearns and Jane Blackburn

Saturday 21st April.  2:30m – 5pm

Cost: £25 early bird if booked in advance and paid in full

Join us for this exquisite combination of gentle Yin and Gong sound nourishing and relaxation therapy.

The first 2 hours will be dedicated to a restorative and gentle yin practice with sound healing and the last half an hour will be completely dedicated to a Gong Sound Bath meditation.

We will be offering a nourishing and releasing practice with gentle yin postures mixed with some restorative poses together with healing sounds of the gong to rejuvenate, relax, refresh and restore you.

Gongs can help in resolving emotional and physical dissonance. Magic happens when there is no separation between the gong, the player and the listener. Playing and listening to gongs is about spiritual, physical and emotional resolution – opening of doors and windows to the Universe, moving around energies, Universal energies – to enter a spiritual dimension. The Gong is a psycho-acoustic gateway to heightened states of awareness and consciousness. It is an ideal tool for stress reduction, stimulation of the glandular system, and to break up emotional blockages.

Gently opening into our mindful restorative and yin yoga practice by focusing our attention inward, using our breath as our anchor. A mindful, permissive, nourishing, yielding practice, whilst working on the deeper tisuues, welcoming awareness of the subtler sensations.

Cultivating harmony and peace, a deeper sense of balance and feelings of calmness and a sense of well-being. Also working to stimuate and unblock energy channels to offer a deep release and sense of letting go.

This restorative and gentle yin yoga gong bath workshop will offer a slow-paced, meditative style of yoga with postures held for 3 to 5 minutes.

The Gong, when skill-fully played, gongs stimulate and resonate all cells in the human body simultaneously and recalibrate the parasympathetic nervous system (heavy arms and legs as well as a regulated heart rate during a gong meditation are a sign of the re-calibration).

The Gong generates powerful multi-dimensional ripples of sound that grow into waves and bathe your entire body in streams of sound. These have been described as otherworldly, rhythmic, generating a sense of being on vacation, unfathomable, purifying, magical, sweet – like rich, rich chocolate cake, profound, out of body, celestial and harmonic…just to name a few.

Places are limited.

Please message me or email info@yoga-aura.co.uk or text 07795 418266 for a place.
